What the job actually involves
If your system ties into the potable supply, the backflow assembly protects the drinking water and generally has to be tested every year by a certified tester with a calibrated gauge. It is a short job and a paper trail. It is also the assembly most likely to be destroyed by a freeze, because it sits above ground where the cold gets to it first.
